(It is the morning after Thanksgiving Day. Our own ELF on the SHELF, "Charlie" came back to our house to watch how well my boys behave everyday until "Christmas Eve".
Day 32

Today is the last day for Charlie at our home. He will watch us all day today on Christmas Eve and go home to the North Pole tonight to report to Santa how my sons behaved for the last time. And he will not come back to us next day. It's a good-bye until the day after Thanksgiving Day next year.I don't know how long Charlie has been crying... There are lots of tissues on the floor.
He must have been crying for a while. His usual blue eyes had turned into red.
He got my son's alphabet puzzle out of the toy cabinet and placed every letter of the alphabet except the letter "U". What is Charlie trying to say? Is he trying to tell us a message that he is missing "U"... Ah-Hah, He misses us already!! Oh Charlie, we are going to miss U too... especially me. You are like the 4th son, Charlie, and we Elf'n love you!!
今日クリスマスイブは、チャーリーにとって我が家滞在、最後の日です。今日一日、子供達が良い子に出来ているかの監視をした後は、いつも通りにノースポールのサンタさんに報告に帰ります。
しかし、翌日はもう我が家には戻っては来ません。 来年のサンクスギビングの翌日までさようならします。
チャー リーは、どれくらい泣いていたんでしょう。 床には沢山の使用済みティシューが捨てられています。 普段は透き通るようなブルーのお目目も、泣きすぎて真っ赤チャーリーの目の前に、息子の玩具のキャビネットから、アルファベットのパズルが取り出されてあ ります。 ”U”以外のアルファベット、全ての文字がボードの上に配置されています。 チャーリーは何を言おうとしているんでしょう？
あぁぁっ、 分かった! チャーリーの言わんとすることは、きっと「I miss you = I miss U」に違いありません。 チャーリー、 「I miss U」と言いたいのはこっちの方だよ～。 チャーリーがいなくなると思うだけで、ホント寂しくなります。 貴方は、私にとってもう4人目の息子のような存在なんだから!

Day 31

朝早く、トイレに起きた次男坊。 外は薄暗いどころか、まだ真っ暗。せっかくの日曜日なのに、「みんな起きて! チャーリーがスパイしてるよ～。」と、麟太郎が声を張り上げたのは、午前5時17分。たまったもんじゃやいと思いながらも、ママは、にんまりの笑。
バ タバタと起きてた長男と末っ子が、チャーリーの跨る懐中電灯がクリスマスツリーの下の何かを照らしていることに気づいたようです。 「プレゼントだ～! チャーリーが僕達にプレゼント、持ってきてくれたんだ!」と大喜び。 すごいスピードで手を伸ばし、ラッピングペーパーもすごいスピードで破りまくる息子達。 末っ子だけがまだ少し眠そうです。 ミニ懐中電灯のプレゼントに皆大喜び! (リンダ＆イレイン、子供達への懐中電灯のプレゼント有難う。室内でうるさく走り回る代わりに、電気の消された子供部屋に探検に行き、静かにしてくれるので助かります。私と主人への最高のプレゼントになりました。) 家の息子達のクリスマスプレゼントのリストのひとつは、何故か懐中電灯だったんです。
Oh boy, it's way too early for Sunday morning, my son! My middle child Zachary woke up to go to bathroom at 5:17am this morning. It's pitch dark outside, freezing cold, and his loud voice with such excitement woke us all up. "Wake up everybody! Charlie is spying something!".
My eldest and youngest dashed to the living room and discovered that the flash light Charlie was holding is shinning something under the Christmas tree. They reached their arms and found three presents. "Presents! Charlie brought us presents!" they all screamed for joy.
Then ripped the wrapping paper and realized they each got a flash light. (Thanks, Linda & Elaine for getting my boys flash lights. It was a huge hit! It keeps them away from running around and being loud indoor as they go on their investigation in a dark room. It was really a present for me and my husband). I have no clue why, but a Flash Light was one of the items on their Christmas list...
Day 30

残り少ないカリフォルニアでの滞在を、思う存分満喫しようと、行動的なチャーリー。きっ と、出来るだけ色々な事に挑戦し、楽しい体験をしてノースポールに帰ろうと思ってるんでしょう。 今日は、ケンと一緒にビーチでサーフィン。 ティンカーベルとの交際発表以来、ケンにリラックスした表情が見られます。チャーリーにバービーを取られてしまう心配がなくなったからでしょう。
チャーリーの波乗りぶり、地元 ハンティントンビーチやニューポートビーチのサーファーに負けないくらいのものがあります。
Charlie is trying to make the most of his stay in California as he only has a few more days before he goes back to North Pole. He wants to try as much as he could and go home with fun memories. Today, he went surfing with Ken at the beach. Ken looks more relaxed around Charlie after Charlie came out open with his exclusive relationship with Tinker Bell. No more worries of Barbie being stolen by Charlie. Their surfing skills are not so bad. We would totally believe that they were local surfers you see in Huntington Beach and Newport Beach.

クリスマスまで、残りあと数日。 確か玩具作り担当のエルフ達が、チャーリーの家族や友達用のプレゼントは準備してくれているはずなんですが．．．それとは別にチャーリーは、クリスマス ショッピングをちゃっかりしていたようです。 一体、誰へのプレゼントなんでしょうか? クリスマン家滞在中の遊び過ぎに、包装することをすっかり忘れてしまったようです。 チャーリー、まだ十分時間あるから、焦らずプレゼント包んでリボンするの頑張ってね。There are only a few days left until Christmas Day. I'm sure the elves in "Toy making department" had already taken care of all the presents for Charlie's families and friends. Besides the presents prepare by the elves on toy making duties, Charlie had gone for Christmas shopping to have more presents ready. I wonder whom these presents are for...
Charlie is having too much fun, so little time at the Chrisman family. He completely forgot to wrap them and top them with the ribbons. Don't worry, Charlie. You still have enough time to get them all ready.
Day 28

昨日、雪の妖精とチャーリーのあんまり仲の いい様子に、嫉妬してしまったティンカーベル。 空も飛べるし、妖精の世界では人気ナンバーワンのティンカーベルでさえ、声を上げてチャーリーをといつめました。チャーリーのプレーボーイ的なところを承 知の上で、先週はデートにもOKしたけど、チャーリーのことを本気で好きになったようです。 ソリ遊びの後、"私のこと、どう思っているの？” "私は貴方にとってどんな存在なの?”など、ティンカーベルにいろいろと質問攻めにされたチャーリー。 昨日は、チャーリーにとってプレーボーイ最後の日になったようです。 そして、話の結果チャーリーが決断したのは．．．ホワイトゴールドにアクアマリーンストーンのプロミスリングを購入。 ティンカーベルに真剣にお付き合いして欲しいとお願いしたようです。Do you remember how jealous Tinker Bell was yesterday when she saw Charlie and Snow fairy getting cozy on a sleigh? I couldn't believe even Tinker Bell who is the most popular girl in the entire fairy world could be so jealous that she lost her cool. Tinker Bell knew how Charlie always rolls like a playboy and still decided to go on a date with him last week. Is it possible Tinker Bell had fell head over heels for Charlie? After the sleigh ride, Charlie was pulled to the side by Tinker Bell with the famous phase "We need to talk". The "talk" must have done it. It ended Charlie's play boy day. He picked a beautiful promise ring with a huge aquamarine stone for Tinker Bell and asked her to be in an exclusive relationship with him.

"Dashing through the snow, in a one horse open sleigh.... Charlie and his friends are having fun on the snow covered slope. It's raining here in orange county, California, but it's snowing just 2 hours away in Snow Summit & Big Bear Mountain, Southern California.ダッシング スルー ザ スノー、 イン ア ワンホース オープン スレー．．． チャーリーと彼のお友達は、雪の斜面でなにやら楽しそうな様子です。 南カリフォルニア、オレンジ郡では、雨模様が続きますが、車で2時間離れた、山沿いのスノーサミットやビッグベアーマウンテンでは、雪が降っています。
あれあれ、同じ一つのそりに乗り、仲良く滑るチャーリーと雪の妖精．．．。 結構いい雰囲気になってきています。
ティンカーベルが嫉妬するのではと少し心配しでしたが、案の定
”チャーリー、ちょっと～、どういうことなのよ～？”と、左手であおぎながら、彼らのすぐ後ろを追いかけ始めたティンカーベルです。
A bit of
body contact and excitement on the slope must be helping. Charlie and a
snow fairy started to look pretty cozy there. I started to worry a
little bit about Tinker Bell getting jealous.Not to my surprise, Tinker Bell couldn't hide her jealousy any longer. She is now waving her arm up in the air right behind Charlie's sleigh, saying "Charlie, can you explain what's going on between you and the snow fairy?"

Charlie is definitely influenced by the kids yoga trial class my boys attended last weekend.He gathered some of his friends and tried some yoga. I'm impressed and lost for words as they are so flexible and keeping a good balance. Who is the yoga instructor any ways?
先週末に息子達が参加したキッズヨガのトライアルクラスに、完全に影響 されてしまった様子のチャーリー。 仲のいい友達を集めて、一緒にヨガに挑戦したようです。 みんなの柔軟性とバランスの良さに、言葉を失ってしまいました。 ところで、ヨガのインストラクターは誰だっんでしょうか？

Day 25

It's cold and drizzly outside even in Southern Californian last few days. Charlie seems to have a great idea for the days like these! Cuddling with a blanket on the couch with some hot cocoa, or even ice cold coke and watching classic Christmas movies seems like the perfect thing to do. He got us some popcorn, skittles, and 4 classic Christmas movies for us! To boost up the winter fun atmosphere, he even made a snow angel (really a kettle popcorn angel) for us. Thanks, Charlie!さすがに南カリフォルニアでも、ここ2～3日は霧雨の寒い日が続いて います。 今日は、この寒い日々にぴったりの過ごし方をチャーリーが提案してくれました。 ソファーで毛布につつまって、温かいココアでものみながら、（冷た～いコーラでも勿論OK!)クリスマス定番の映画を見る．．．完璧な設定！ポップコーン とSkittlesまで用意してくれています。それに、クラシックと言われるクリスマス映画を4つも持ってきてくれました。 また、冬ならではの楽しい雰 囲気をさらに盛り上げようと、スノーエンジェルまで作ってくれています（雪ではなく、ケトルコーンのポップコーンなんだけど．．．）。チャーリー、とっても いいアイデア有難う!

サーカス ソレイユ？ 天上から吊り下げられるクリスマスデコレーションに摑まって、アクロバットの技を披露するチャーリー。 "ママ、チャーリーって、何でもできちゃうんだね。"と、尊敬の眼差しでの一言が次男、ザッカリー（麟太郎）の口からこぼれます。"一晩中アクロバットして疲れてるだろうから、ママ、チャーリー下ろしてあげよう?"と長男の優しい気遣いの言葉も。

20 children and 6 brave women at Sandy Hook elementary school departed Newtown, Connecticut yesterday（December 14th) and became angels. They will now be watching over every child and every teacher on this earth from Heaven.昨日12月１４日、サンディーフック小学校の生徒（小学校1年生）20人と 6人の勇敢な先生たちが、コネチカット州ニュートン市を発ち、天使となりました。 この世に残る全ての子供たちと先生たちを、これからは天国から優しく見守ってくれます。

Oh, boy! We can hardly keep up with Charlie's love life, can we?Charlie dressed up in suits and went on a date with Tinkerbell last night. They look pretty cozy together. What a gentleman he is! He got her a box of chocolate and a bouquet of dozen pink roses for a Tinkerbell. They don't realize that they even spent the night away by talking about their dreams and future. They are looking into each others eyes and lost in a moment.
まったく、チャーリーの交際関係にはついていけないところがありますよね。
素敵なスーツでかっこよくお決まりのチャーリー。 昨夜、ティンカーベルとデートに出かけたようです。 、彼は何て紳士なんでしょう! ハート型の箱のチョコレートの詰め合わせと、ピンクのバラの花束をティンカーベルにプレゼントしたみたいです。 夜が更けるのも忘れ、お互いの夢や将来を 語り合ったのでしょう。見つめ合う２人は、正に自分達だけの世界に入っています。

スパイノソーレスの牙むき出しの恐ろしい姿に、チャーリーは余裕の表情を見せています。

I see Charlie on the back of a Brachiosaurus bravely holding a sword. Is Charlie's sword fighting skill good enough to defeat the Spinosaurus? Can Charie rescue the Apatosaurus from the horrifying attach? There is a grin on Charlie's face as if it is a piece of cake for him. Hasta La Vista, Spinosaurus!

チャーリーは、まだ罪悪感 を引きずっているのでしょうか。 今日もご機嫌を取るかのように、朝ごはんが用意してありました。 パンケーキ、それもクリスマス色のチョコレートチップスのパンケーキです。 家はチョコレートなど入れてのパンケーキなんて、めったに作ることないので、 子供達は大喜び！ あれあれ、パンケーキシロップのボトル、ミセス バターワースとの仲がちょっと怪しげな感じです。 クリスマス限定版のボトルの衣装に、まさか惚れぼれしてしまっているのでは。Charlie seems to be still feeling guilty of what he's done 2 days ago. He had prepared breakfast for us. He made us pancakes! They are not just plain old pancakes. They are chocolate chip pancakes with Christmas colored chocolate chips!
I seldom make chocolate chip pancakes for my boys, so they are extremely happy with their breakfast today. Wait a minute..... there seems to be something strange going on between Charlie and Mrs. Butter-worth's (pancake syrup bottle). Is Charlie feeling love toward Mrs. Butter-worth's as she is in the Christmas limited edition dress?
Day 18

昨日のやりすぎたいたずらを、きっと反省しているのでしょう。チャーリーが、「ご免なさい」のメッセージをM&Mで残してくれています。Charlie must have been feeling bad for what he did yesterday (destroyed my son's Lego log cabin with explosives). He left a message saying "Sorry" on a plate with M&M's.
お詫びに買った大量のM&Mとハーシーズのチョコレートのせいで、チャーリーのふところが、寒くなってしまったのではと、ちょっと心配。
I wonder if Charlie's wallet is now much lighter after purchasing so much M&M's and Hershey's chocolate as peace offering.
Day 17

これはちょっと悪質ではないかい？、と言いたくなるいたずらです。家の長男のLegoのログキャビンを、ダイナマイトで破壊してしまったチャーリー。
悪気があってやったことなのか、それともアクシデントだったのでしょうか？
大変、大変、長男の作った警察犬パトカーLegoが、駆けつけてきた様子です。
It's kind of mean, isn't it, Charlie? He blew up my son's Lego log cabin with dynamites!
Hmmmmmmmm..... was it intentional, or just by accident?
Oh, sh%$#^*&!@*!!!! The K9 police unit belongs to my son has shown up at the scene.
Charlie is in TROUBLE...... United States Security & Defense kind of problem.
Day 16

またまた、チャーリーのいたずら振りを目撃!ジンジャーブレッドマンのぬいぐるみが、椅子にクリスマスライトでぐるぐる巻きに縛られています。
ダストフェザーを片手に、その横に座わるチャーリー。 ダストフェザーで、チャーリーにくすぐられるジンジャーブレッドマンは、ちょっと苦しそうな顔をしています。 起きてきた息子達の顔には、、ジンジャーブレッドマンのこの危機に、助け出してあげなきゃと焦り気味の表情が．．．。
Charlie was up to something mischief again last night.
The gingerbread man was tied to the chair with the Christmas lights.
We saw Charlie sitting next to the gingerbread man with a dust feather in his hand.
The gingerbread man looked almost painful by being tickled by Charlie.
As my sons finds the gingerbread man is in trouble, they couldn't help hiding their concern for him. The expression on their faces showed how bad they want to rescue him....
Day 15

吊り下げてあった皆のストッキングが落とされ、代わりに皆の下着が吊り下げてあります。昨日の油性マジックマーカーでのいたずら書きといい（昨日、息子の顔に書かれていたものは、実際は、アイライナーによるものでしたが）、今日のパンツ事件といい、何ていたずら好きなチャーリーなんでしょう！
What a prank star Charlie has been! He replaced all our stockings on the hooks with our underwear. （By the way, the writings on my son's face by Charlie yesterday was actually done with my eyeliner, not by a permanent marker.)
Day 14

An Elf and a permanent marker ..... A baaaaaaaaad combination! What is Charlie doing... holding a permanent marker in his hand, and hanging from the bottom of upper bunk beds?エルフ＆油性マジック．．．恐ろしい組み合わせ! 油性マジックペンを手にして、二段ベッドの上から釣り下がるチャーリーは、一体何してんの?!
OMG!!!!!!! What have you done, Charlie?! He's done some mischief on my youngest son while he was sleeping last night!! The sock monkey, James who supposed to be my son's best buddy was a partner in crime!
えぇぇぇぇぇっっっっっ!!!!!!! うそっっっっっ．．．チャーリー、何てことしてくれたの! 家の三男坊が昨晩寝ている間に、顔にいたずらがきしたチャーリー。 何と、このいたずらの相棒は、三男坊の慕うソックモンキー、ジェームスでした。
When my older sons woke up and saw what Charlie and James have done together, they burst into laughter and rolled around on the floor from laughing so hard. My son woke up from the loud laughter by his brothers and he was guided to the mirror. He giggled and said, "Hey, What happen to my face!" "I have new mustache, Mama". The joke well taken, my son!
起きて来てくるなり笑いを噴出した長男と次男。 あまりの可笑しさに、床を転げまわって爆笑しています。 笑い声に目を覚ましてしまった三男は、鏡の前に連れて行かれます。 すると、ケラケラと笑いながら一言、”おいおい、僕の顔は何てことになってるんだ! ママ～、僕に新しいおひげが生えちゃってるよ～”、だそうです。 2歳10ヶ月なのに、冗談うまく受け取ってくれていました。

"the Elf on the Shelf" (棚の上のエルフ）チャーリー版 13 日目"Hey Mommmmmmmmmm!!!!!!! Charlie got balloons for us!", I hear my sons calling from their room. "20 more days until Christmas!".... Today Charlie is simply reminding us of how many more days we have until Christmas Day in his own special way. Thanks Charlie as always!
「ママ～～～～!!!! チャーリーが風船もって来てくれてるよ! 」、という息子達の呼ぶ声がします。
”クリスマスまで、あと20日!"．．．今日は、単にクリスマスまであと何日かを伝えてくれたチャーリーですが、まさにチャーリーらしい、お茶目な伝え方だなぁと納得。 チャーリー、いつもありがとう。
Day 12
"the Elf on the Shelf" (棚の上のエルフ）チャーリー版 12 日目
飛行機好きの息子達の部屋には、 様々な飛行機やヘリコプターのモデルが天上から吊るされてあります。 チャーリーも、飛行機好きだったようです。FedExの貨物機、海上救助ヘリなど、沢山ある中から、ANA（全日空）のジェットを選んで搭乗したようで す。それとも、ハイジャックした飛行機で、どこかに向かってるのかな? いずれにしろ、Bon Voyage!My boys are so into air planes and helicopters like any other little boys out there.
We have model toy planes and helicopters hanging from the ceiling in the boy's room. Charlie is no different. He seems to love airplanes as much as my boys. He picked a commercial jet plane for ANA (All Nippon Airline) among FedEx cargo plane and Coast guard rescue helicopter. It almost looks like he high jacked the airplane and heading somewhere he wants to go. Bon Voyage!

It must have been a game night last night for Charlie and his friends.They got a piece of paper and crayons out of the craft drawer, and made their own ｈome made "Twister". It looks that the spinner was made with stickers often used for pricing tag at the yard sale and one of my hair pin.

クラフト用の引き出しから、紙とクレヨンを取り出し、手作りの ”ツイスター”を作った様子。 スピンナーは、よくヤードセールで使われるシールと、ヘアーピンで作ってあります。
Day 10

It's been 10 days since Charlie, "the ELF on the SHELF" came to our home.Watching the boys all day to see how well they are behaving and reporting back to Santa Claus at the North Pole at the end of the night is a hard work.
He probably thought, "It's about the time for me to relax in the bubble bath!". We found him kicking back in our bathroom sink, enjoying the bubble bath.
チャーリーが我が家に訪れてから、１０日が経ちました。 一日中、息子達がお行儀よくしているかどうかを監視し、一日の終わりには、ノースポールのサンタクロースに報告しに帰ることは、決して楽な仕事ではありません。 ”バブルバスで、たまにはリラックスしなきゃ！”なんて思ったんでしょう。 気持ちよさそうに、家のバスルームのシンクでくつろいでいるチャーリーを発見！

Day 9
"the Elf on the Shelf" (棚の上のエルフ）チャーリー版 9 日目
"Miniature S'mores!" They are just right size for Charlie.Charlie must have gone through our food cabinet, and got out some miniature marshmallows, Teddy Grams, and chocolate chips. He invited his snowman figurines to join him for a "camp fire" (tea candle) and enjoyed the night away by making S'mores.
We reheated them a little and tried them. They were pretty good. Thanks, Charlie!
"ミニチュア スモアだ!" チャーリーにはぴったりの大きさのスモアですね～。
家の台所の戸棚の中から、ミニチュアマシュマロと、テディーグラム、チョコレートチップを見つけたチャーリー。 雪だるまの置物を招待しての、キャンプファイアーを楽しみながら、スモアを作って夜明かしした様子です。
少しレンジで暖めてから、試食してみましてた。とっても美味しかったです。 ご馳走様、チャーリー！

Day 8
"the Elf on the Shelf" (棚の上のエルフ）チャーリー版 8 日目
Charlie must have been exhausted from all the excitements from zip lining and street car racing two days in a row. We found him under the Christmas tree resting in bed... I wonder if he got a cold. Thanks to our Christmas Fairy for coming down form the tree top and taking care of sick Charlie. He is "clearly still sick" even after taking almost half bottle of NyQuil (he is smiling... maybe he just wanted TLC from the Christmas Fairy just for one day.）There was a empty can of Chicken Noodle Soup. . . at least he still had an appetite. We hope Charlie will feel better soon.
ジップライニング、ストリートカーレーシング、2日間の興奮の連続で疲れきってしまったのでしょう。
クリスマスツリーの下で、チャリーが床を敷いて休んでいるでいます。 風邪をひいてしまったのかな? ありがたい事に、クリスマスツリーの妖精が降りてきて、チャーリーの看病をしてくれたようです。 ナイクイル(風邪薬)を、ボトル半分ほど飲んだにもかかわらず、"明らかにまだ具合の悪そうな"チャーリー。（彼のにっこりした表情に、クリスマスツリーの妖精さんのテンダー、ラビィング、ケアーがだだ欲しかったのかも＝仮病? なんて思っちゃいます．．．）。
チキンヌードルスープの空き缶見っけ！．．．まだ食欲がある分、元気な証拠ですね。 チャーリー、早くよくなってね。

Day 7
"the Elf on the Shelf" (棚の上のエルフ）チャーリー版 7 日目
I didn't know Charlie was into a street car racing!Some of his friends including well-know characters from Disney and Christmas figurines had gathered for this exciting event. I see power rangers cheering on the sideline as well.
This street car race seemed to be taken place right on our dining table. The contestants looks very serious as they start the engine "Brrrrrum, brrrrrum, brrrrrum!".
チャーリーがカーレーシングのファンだったなんて、知りませんでした!
有名なディズニーのキャラクターや、クリスマスの置物の皆が、このエキサイティングなイベントに集まって来たようです。パワーレンジャーまで、サイドラインで応援しています。
家のダイニングテーブルの上で、レースが行われた様子。
”ブラン、ブルン、ブラン、ブルン．．．”。 エンジンを鳴らしながらスタートラインに並ぶレース出場者は、真剣なまなざしです。
Day 6

M: "Where is Charlie?!"Z: "I don't know. . ."
G: "I don't know, either"
M: "I don't think he came back from North Pole last night. . . "
Z: "I know why"
M: "Why?!"
G: "Why?"
Z: " Because you didn't behave yesterday when you were doing your homework"
G: "Yeah!"
M: ". . . . . " (tears filling up in his eyes)
This morning, I hear this conversation among my boys. I wanted to tell them "Why don't you go see downstairs?" so bad, but I just decided to let them figure out on their own. Besides, my boys can think about how they need to behave better in order to get Charlie come back every morning.
As we were getting ready to go to school, my boys cheered, "Mama!!!!!! Come and see!
Charlie is back!!!!!!! He is ziplining on our stairs! ".
M：「チャリーどこにいるの？」
Z： 「僕、知らない。」
G：「僕も知らない。」
M：「ノースポールから、帰ってこなかったんだよ。」
Z：「どうして帰ってこなかったのか知ってるよ、僕。」
M：「どうして？」
G：「どうして？」
Z：「昨日、お兄ちゃんが宿題をしている時に、真面目にやってなかったからだよ。」
G：「そうだよ。」
M：「．．．．．．。（お目目に涙が溢れてくる)」
今朝、こ～んな息子達のの会話が聞こえてきました。 「一階の方にはいなかったの?」と言いたいところでしたが、グッと我慢して彼ら自身で見つけて貰うことに。 それに、もっと行儀よくしてもらうために、ちょっと自己反省してもらわないと。 そろそろ学校に行く時間。すると、「ママ!!!! 来て! 来て!見て! 見て! チャーリーが帰ってきてるよ～!!!!! チャーリー、ジップライニングしてるよ!」との歓声が家中に響き渡りました。

Day 5

Our family took Charlie's hinting from yesterday seriously, and we started decorating our house for Christmas. In our response to Charlie's hard work of getting heavy Christmas tubs out of our attic, we even put out the Christmas tree and decorated it.Sure enough, Charlie has reacted very happily. We are happy that Charlie "Hearts" our Christmas tree. He even rewarded us with some candy canes. Thanks, Charlie!
昨日、チャーリーからのヒントを真剣に受け止めた我が家では、クリスマスの飾り付けを開始しました。 アティックから重いクリスマスの飾り付けの入った収納コンテナを出すという、 チャーリーの重労働に感謝する意味を込めて、クリスマスツリーまで飾り付けをしました。
思っ たとおり、チャーリーの反応は、喜びに溢れたものでした。チャーリーが、家のクリスマスツリーを"I heart your tree", といった表現をして気に入ってくれた事に、私たちまでハッピーになってしまいます。 ご褒美に、キャンディーケインまでくれるなんて、チャーリー、ありが とう！

Day 4

Charlie couldn't wait any longer. He got all our Christmas decorations out of our attic while we were sleeping last night. There was a note left by Charlie said, "What an Elf got to do is what an Elf got to do! I got all your Christmas decorations out of the attic. I save you guys some muscle work for sure".

起きてくると、しびれを切らしたチャーリーが、Attic（物置として利用している天上と屋根の間の空間）からクリスマスデコレーションを取り出してくれ
ていました。 チャーリーが残してくれたメモには、僕（エルフ）がやらなければ、誰がやるのっ！といったようなニュアンスで、”僕がAttic
からクスマスデコレーションを出してあげたから、力仕事をせずに済んだでしょ。”と書いてありました。
Day 3

The weather has been so warm and wonderful in Southern California for the last couple days. The highest temperature goes up to about 78 °F everyday. Instead of going to the malls, hunting for big bargains this Black Friday weekend, there are quite a few people at the beaches kicking back and enjoying sun bathing.I am not sure if Charlie invited his friends, Barbie and Ken to sun bathe with him, or if he invited himself and ended up being the third wheel on Barbie and Ken's date. Ken looked little annoyed when he realized Charlie is putting sunscreen on Barbie's back.
ここ３日ほど、南カリフォルニアは秋晴れで暖かいお天気が続いています。 日中の最高気温が26℃位まで上がるため、Black Friday Weekend （クリスマスショッピングの始まりということで、特別価格品が出回り、バーゲンを狙ってデパートやモールが込み合う週末）の買い物よりも、ビーチでゆっく り日光浴を楽しむ人々もチラホラと見られます。
チャーリーも、お友達のバービーとケンを誘っての日光浴？それとも、バービーとケンのデートのお邪魔虫になっているのでしょうか？ チャーリーが、バービーの背中に日焼け止めクリームを塗ってあげている事に気づいたケンは、ちょっと不機嫌そうな顔をしています。

サンクスギビングの七面鳥の置物におんぶされて楽しんだ様子のチャーリー。It looks like our Elf, Charlie had fun getting a piggyback ride with our Thanksgiving Turkey decoration last night.
Charlie left a note says, ”Turkey Day (Thanksgiving Day) is over, isn't it?
I wonder where the Christmas decorations are.... wink, wink, nudge, nudge”.
He is totally hinting us for decorating our house with Christmas stuff. My kids couldn't agree more with Charlie.
Day 1

(What a wonderful grand entrance to our house he had made this year, he came with souvenirs from North Pole, Snowman's poop. I see some Macy's shopping bags on his laps. He even stopped by at Macy's for some Black Friday shopping on his way here. )
約一年ぶりにチャーリーに再会する子供達も、とっても嬉しそうです。 今年もいよいよ、チャーリーの面白可笑しいアドベンチャーの始まりです。 チャーリーは、子供達の毎日の行動をしっかり監視し、サンタさんに毎晩報告に戻ります。明日の朝は、お家の中のどこにチャーリーが移動し、どんないたずらをしかけるのか、楽しみです。
(The boys are so happy to see Charlie after almost 1 year of his absence. Here he is again to start his fun filled, mischief adventure with my family. Charlie will watch the boys all day long and go back to North Pole tonight to report Santa how naughty or nice the boys were today.
We look forward to seeing where Charlie will situate himself and what type of prank he set up to entertain us.
