母とお別れしてからもう2６年が経ちます。
控えめで、物静かな性格でありながらも、娘たちの事となると、情熱を持って何でもやってくれていた母の亡き姿に支えられ続けてきました。 カリカリせずに、どんな時も落ち着いて優しく接してくれていた母を目標に、母としての自分をまだまだ磨いていかなくてはと思う一日でした。
この写真は、母が写った少ない写真の中でも私のお気に入り。
母が手作りしてくれたボレロスーツのニットを着て、父と母、そして従兄弟と出席した結婚式の帰り道です。

I miss you, お母さん．．．
今日は母の命日。

オリンピックデー、日本でいう運動会のようなもの。
２年生のダンスのイベントに忍び込み、楽しそうに真似をして踊る末っ子くん３歳。
初めて踊るナンバーだから、振りを知らない彼。でもお兄ちゃんとクラスメートの動きを必死に真似しながら、数秒遅れでついていってます。
普段はひとりでシャーワーの長男も、飛び入りして賑やかなバスタイムとなりました。
今夜は皆ぐっすり寝るだろうなあ～。

Olympic Day
今日は学校でオリンピックデー。
オリンピックと言っても、障害物レース、サッカーリレー、綱引き、二人三脚、ダンス、ポテトサックレースなど楽しく参加できるものばかり。
このイベントは、家族や親戚にスポンサーになってもらい、課外項目であるダンスやアート、音楽のクラスの経費をまかなう為の資金集めでもあります。
それぞれ学年ごとに、代表国が与えられるので、生徒も先生方もその国の国旗などをモチーフにした格好をして登校します。
Today was Olympic Day at school.
It is one of the exciting days for the students as they get to dress like the the country each grade is representing and participate fun activities like dancing, Obstacle Course, Soccer Relay, Three-legged Race, Tag of War, Dance, and Sack Race.
It also is one of the fundraising event to pay for fine art programs such as dance class & Art Masters program.

California Pepper Trees
息子たちの通う小学校にはカリフォルニアペッパーの木が沢山植えてあります。
レインボーペッパーの中の赤やピンクのペッパーを思い出してもらうと、”あ～、あれね！”という反応がよく返ってきます。
枝から釣り下がる赤やピンク色のビーズのような実はそよ風にゆれ、いつも心を和ませてくれます。 そして地面に落ちたペッパーは、登校時に生徒達に踏まれて砕け、毎朝香ばしいコショウの香りで登校ルートをいっぱいにしてくれます。
There are many California pepper trees on the campus of my sons' school.
You find the red or pink pepper in the rainbow peppers you buy at the store. It's a same one.
These little red＆pink beads like peppers hanging from the tree branch are swinging in the air by the morning breeze when we walk to school everyday.
The ones fell on the ground are stepped and grounded by hundreds of little feet of the students on their way to school. Then, a strong ground pepper smell fills up the air all around us.

Potty Training Part 3. . . so far so good!
トイレトレーニング その3。
おしっこの方は、ほぼマスター出来たので、
ご褒美にスーパーヒーロー”Avengers”のパジャマボトムを作ってあげました。
残り布でパッチワークして作ったので、柄が逆さまになってる部分があるけど、
末っ子くんは気にせず、嬉しそうというか、興奮気味。
「今日は、早くお風呂にいれてくれ」とランチを食べ終わるや否や、リクエストしてきてます。
オムツを買わなくて済む分、 "気前よく” ふところを叩いて（節約ママの小銭入れですが）、１ドルショップで買ったウォーターボトルとおやつ用のタッパーも追加。
嬉しさのあまり、「僕はトイレの王様だ～！」な～んて自称してるし．．．
My 3 year old got the #1 part completely down. His potty training is going great so far.
In order to encourage what he still needs to accomplish further with # 2,
I rewarded him with a pair of Pajama bottom with the Superhero "Avengers".
Since they were made with leftover fabric from my other project, the portion of the pants has the pictures upside down, but he didn't seem to mind at all.
He's got way too excited and requesting for an early bath today.
No more diapers means a lot to our household budget. So I thought I could go "big" at the dollar store and get my son more rewards, an "Avengers" water bottle and an "Avengers" tupperware. These made him even happier and he is screaming, "I am a king of Toilet!".

謎のSomething Brown. . .
その時は他の事に夢中で、うわの空で聞いていた事を後で思い出して、想像もしていなかった事が頭の中で一気に明らかになる時がありませんか？
先日、知り合いのマーケットに寄って、お店の入り口でお喋りにふけっていると…次男君が、「ママ、そこに犬の糞が落ちてるから、踏まないよう
に気をつけて」と囁いて走り去り、追いかけっこに戻って行きました。車から飼い犬と降りて、ドッグビーチに向かう人達、犬のお散歩で通り過ぎる近所の人達、
お店の前に立っているとよく見かける日常の風景。
日陰を求め、場所をちょっと移動してふっと下を見た瞬間、又々犬の糞が…。
追いかけっこで通り過ぎる次男くんが、ボソリと溢した言葉．．．「ここにも犬の糞…でも人間のものにも見えなくないな〜。例えば、僕の弟のとか．．．（ニヤッ）」。
その時は、お喋りに夢中で聞き流していましたが、今思い出してみると、あれはやっぱりうちの末っ子くんのが、水着の隙間から落ちたものに違いない…と思う2日後の今日．．．（苦笑)
Things that you paid no attention at that time came back in your mind a few days later, and the pieces of the information fit in the blanks just like puzzle pieces.
And then, all of the sudden it started to make sense. . . Have you ever experienced something like this before?
Before heading to the beach the other day, we stopped by at my friends' market for a catch up. I was busy chatting in front of the market while my boys were playing tags nearby.
My middle boy said, "Mama, watch out the dog poop!" pointing at something brown on the ground right in front of the market as he was running by. There are many peoples come to the Dog Beach near by with their cars parked by the Market, and head to the beach. I see the neighbors walking their dogs to the store all the time. So, I didn't think anything of it.
After a while, my friends and I moved to under the shade as the sun was getting too hot.
Now I think about it, it could possibly be my youngest son's.
He is in the middle of potty training. He's mastered going #1, not #2 quite yet.

He must have done it in his swimming shorts and the little pebbles of poops must have dropped through the cracks.

ビーチ日和 in HB
久々にハンティントンビーチのビーチで、日曜の午後を寛ぎました。
先ずは、17th Street にある、学生時代からずっとお世話になっているマーケット、「オーシャンパシフィックマーケット＆デリー」に寄っておしゃべり。
実は主人と出会った場所。 今ではオーナー3兄弟と家族ぐるみのお付き合い。
いつも通り、故郷ジョーダンのセージ茶を、私好みに調整して煎れてくれました。
We spent Sunday afternoon at the beach in HB.
We stopped by at one of our favorite place on 17th Street, "Ocean Pacific Market & Deli" and did some catch up with our friends there.
This is the place I met my husband nearly 15 years ago.
This place is owned by 3 brothers from Jordan who became our close friends over the years as our family and their family grew.
I enjoyed their Sage tea from Jordan as they offered me a cup as they always do.

The Endeavour Experience - California Science Center
Today we got to meet one of the great piece of American history!
After 25 successful missions in space over past 3 decades, the space shuttle "The Endeavour"
retired last year and came to California Science Center for a display.
今日は、ロサンゼルスのカリフォルニア科学センターで展示中の、スペースシャトル「エンデバー」を見に行ってきました。 ２５回目の飛行を終え昨年退役したエンデバー、人類の宇宙への夢や好奇心、科学者、技術者達の色々な思いが長年注がれていました。
NASAの歴史を象徴するスペースシャトルの一つを目の前で見て、感動の一日でした。
